The presentation will begin with an overview of the subprime lending crisis and a discussion of deviations from expected ethical behavior that led to the crisis. As a group, we will analyze the effects of the crisis on the stakeholders and will develop a list of lessons learned. We’ll end the session by breaking into groups and analyzing two different scenarios involving AIG, one of the major players in the subprime market. Just to make it lively, one group for each scenario will take the ethical approach, and the other group gets to be as unethical as possible. Our speaker for the January meeting is Craig Mayers, MAcc, CPA, is an audit manager with Brantley Janson Yost & Ellison, a public accounting firm in Federal Way. Craig has been with the firm for five years and has primary responsibility for managing the firm’s Employee Benefit Assurance Services and many large for-profit clients in such industries as dealerships, manufacturers, shipping, retail, and gaming.
